The Goods Yard

This photograph shows haw the station yard books now. The two arched openings are still clearly visible on the goods shed which now houses small businesses.

This photograph dates from around 1965 and shows the goods yard in a run-down state, but with most of the rails still in place. The photograph would have been taken from the footbridge which used to provide access the the Manchester- bound platform. That bridge, and the layout of the yard can be seen on the maps page.
