Signalling

Today (2011), Blackrod Junction Signal Box remains a familiar feature, which sets Blackrod apart from other minimalist stations in the North West. The fact that it has survived well into the 21st century is due to a combination of location, luck and technical madness! This wasn't the only signal box in the area though. Horwich Fork was just yards down the line right up to the mid 1960s, as were the boxes up the Horwich Branch.
